Drawing detail based on photographs is nothing new. Producing accurate elevations or 3d models from them is.

Close-range Photogrammetry is the science of developing accurate drawings or models from a series of photographs and has been around for quite a while.

Using a particular piece of software, and coupling this with survey data collected on site, we are able to produce accurate, detailed drawings. It also enables us to obtain the required data while spending a minimum amount of time on-site - normally only a couple of hours

However, the software also allows us to produce 3d models of whatever we happen to have photographed, and will export all the required texture data either as materials files or as rectified images. This data can then be brought into our high-end animation and rendering software which enables us to produce fly-throughs and walk-arounds to a high degree of accuracy.

The beauty of this system is that it is not restricted to architecture. It can apply to anything that can be photographed: bridges, gantries, interiors, sculptures, archaeological features...
